EIU Set To Host NJCAA Indoor Championships

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois University play host to the National Junior College Athletic Association Indoor Track National Championships this Friday and Saturday at the Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse.  Teams from 46 different schools will compete for this year's men's and women's titles.
 
Friday events start at 9 a.m. with the men's and women's pentathlon events.  Additional Friday competition is slated to begin at 3 p.m. with the men's shot put and women's pole vault at 4 p.m.  The final event on Friday night is set for a 9:45 p.m. start with men's and women's 1,000 meter run.
 
Saturday's schedule starts at 9 a.m. with the men's weight throw and 10 a.m. for the women's high jump.  The final event on Saturday is the 4x400 relay set for a 3:25 p.m. start.  The final awards ceremony is set for 4 p.m.
 
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students each day.  South Plains College in Texas won last year's men's title while Essex County College in New Jersey is the women's defending champion.
