Rend Lake Sweeps NJCAA Track Championships

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Rend Lake College swept both the men's and women's team titles as the 2008 NJCAA Indoor Track National Championships concluded at Eastern Illinois Lantz Arena.

The Rend Lake men scored 133 total points to easily capture the team title.  Barton County CC was second with 86 points and Butler County CC placed third with 66 points.

The same three schools placed in the same order for the women's championship with Rend Lake winning with 120.5 points.  Barton County CC was a close second with 109 points and Butler County CC was fourth at 88.5 points.  Women's defending champion Essex County College was fourth.

Sean Wiggan
Men's Indoor Track
Chantelle Pressley from women's basketball and Sean Wiggan from men's indoor track have been named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Pressley helped the women's basketball team extend its current winning streak to nine games as she scored in double figures against both Austin Peay and Jacksonville State.  Pressley had a double-double in the win over APSU with 13 points, 10 rebounds.

Wiggan had a solid showing at the Indiana Relays as he placed first in the 600m and was 8th in the 800m invitational.  Wiggan's winning time of 1:19.70 in the 600m set the school record.  His time in the 800m was 1:51.93.
