2009: ProRehab Aces Soccer Class All-Tournament Team… Molony started 16 of the 17 games, all but the Asbury contest… led the MVC in saves and with six shutouts established a new EIU single-season record in the program’s Valley era… made 10 (in Omaha) and 11 (in Charleston) saves in the two games against Creighton, posting the first double-figure total by a Panther since 2004… also made nine saves in the win at Missouri State… made 11 saves and surrendered only one goal in 200 minutes at Evansville’s tourney to earn All-Tournament Team honors… shutout Mercer, Central Arkansas, Stony Brook, Missouri State, Bradley and Creighton… compiled a streak of 356 consecutive scoreless minutes at Lakeside Field… helped setup Alex Harrison’s goal against IPFW, recording the first assist by an EIU goalkeeper since 2004… led the team in minutes played… MVC Rankings: first in saves, second in saves per game, second in save percentage, third in shutouts, fifth in goals against average.
PREVIOUS COLLEGE: Molony played his first two collegiate seasons at Fort Lewis College, an NCAA Division II school located in Durango, Colo., that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference… did not surrender a goal in 295 minutes of game action, posting two shutouts… RMAC All-Tournament Team selection in 2007… transferred to EIU at the 2009 semester break and participated in the spring season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sean was a four-year letter-winner and three-year starter for coach Bruce Brown… also lettered in football… set school records for saves (game and career), shutouts (career) and minutes played (season and career)… also played for the ’88 Colorado Rush club team, which was a five-time State Cup champion… his ’87 Olympic Development team was runner-up at the 2005 Region IV Tournament… in the summer of 2009 was the starting goalkeeper for the Premier Development League’s Des Moines Menace, which won the Heartland Division title.
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was training with Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids… most admires Everton FC and U.S. National Team goalkeeper Tim Howard because “he has become one of the top goalkeepers and overcome so much”… son of Tim and Mary Lou Molony… MAJOR: Kinesiology and Sports Studies.
