Marion Wins Third OVC Newcomer Honor
Eastern Illinois junior guard T.J. Marion was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week following his performances in wins over Missouri Valley College and Jacksonville State. It marked the third time in five weeks Marion has won the conference honor.

T.J. Marion from men’s basketball and Dominique Sims from women’s basketball have been named the Eastern Illinois student-athletes of the month for December 2008. Each month during the school year one male and one female student-athlete are recognized for their outstanding performance in their sport.

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Dominique Sims tied her career-high with 19 points and Rachel Galligan recorded a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, as Eastern Illinois women’s basketball posted its first road win of the season with a 71-58 victory at Jacksonville State Saturday evening.

Eastern Illinois men's basketball opens up a three game road OVC swing on Saturday evening at Jacksonville State.  The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.  The winner of the game will move into at least a tie for second on the early OVC standings.
