Two EIU Players On College Performance List

Two Eastern Illinois seniors have been named to the College Football Performance preseason awards list as punter Kevin Cook and defensive back CJ James were listed among the candidates earlier this week. This marks the first year that the CFPA will honor players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision.

Panthers Picked Second In OVC Football Poll

For the second-straight season five different Ohio Valley Conference schools received at least one first-place vote in the OVC preseason poll while Jacksonville State picked up the most first-place votes (11) and was tabbed the 2010 OVC preseason favorites in a vote of league head coaches and sports information directors.

Howarth Selected As New Cross Country Coach

Eastern Illinois director of track and field Tom Akers has announced the hiring of Erin Howarth as the Panthers new cross country coach. A current assistant coach at New Mexico, Howarth will serve as the Panthers cross country coach as well as work with middle distance and distance runners for the EIU track team.
