During its annual senior BBQ on Tuesday evening, Eastern Illinois athletics recognized the 79 members of its 2009 senior class along with five individuals who were honored for their athletic, academic and community service performances during their time as Panther student-athletes.

Jordan Kreke of baseball and Carrie Riordan of women's golf were named the Eastern Illinois student-athletes of the month for April 2009. Each month during the school year one male and one female student-athlete are recognized for their outstanding performance in their sport.

Athlete of the Week

Sydney Mitchell is the Student-Athlete of the Week after helping EIU extend its program-record win streak to 11 with victories at SIU Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri State. The freshman provided energy and offensive production off the bench, scoring in double figures in both games. She scored 11 points at SIUE and a career-high 12 points at SEMO. She finished the road trip 7-of-13 from the field and 9-of-10 at the free throw line.
