EIU Continues Road Swing At Tennessee Tech

Eastern Illinois continues its three game Ohio Valley Conference road trip to open 2009 coming off a big win at Jacksonville State. The Panthers play the middle game of this run at Tennessee Tech on Monday night before ending the three game swing next Saturday at Southeast Missouri. With the win over JSU, EIU improved to 2-1 in the OVC and enters the TTU match-up tied for second in the OVC standings. Tennessee Tech enters after a big 103-76 win over Southeast Missouri to improve to 1-1 in the league.

EIU - TENNESSEE TECH SERIES
This will be the 28th meeting between Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech with the Golden Eagles holding a commanding 18-9 series lead. TTU swept the season series last season and has won three in a row in the series. EIU's last win in the series was at the Eblen Center on Dec. 7, 2006 as Romain Martin scored 27 points in the 74-69 victory.

SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH
Tennessee Tech is coming off an impressive 103-76 win over Southeast Missouri which moved the Golden Eagles to 1-1 in the OVC race after a conference opening loss to Jacksonville State. TTU has four players averaging in double figures led by big man Daniel Northern with 12.4 ppg and 7.9 rpg. TTU is averaging 77.9 points per game as a team shooting 45.7 percent from the floor.

JANUARY 3 PAYS OFF AGAIN
Eastern Illinois opened the new year with a big win for the second straight season picking up an OVC victory on January 3. Last season Tyler Laser scored a career-high 27 points as a freshman and EIU beat Murray State, 83-80, in overtime at Lantz Arena. This season Laser added 22 points as all five EIU starters scored in double figures during the win at Jacksonville State.
