FCS Coaches Top 25 | Sports Network Top 25
CHARLESTON, Ill. – It may not have been pretty but on a day in which seven Top 25 teams were upset Eastern Illinois was able to pick up a 16-10 win at Murray State and thus climb in both FCS polls released on Monday afternoon. EIU climbed to No. 13 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the Sports Network rankings, a jump of six spots in both poll.
EIU will have an off week this Saturday before hosting UT Martin on Nov. 14 at O'Brien Field. The Panthers are 7-2 overall, 5-1 in the OVC. Tickets for the Nov. 14 game are on sale by calling 581-2106 or online at www.eiupanthers.com
The top ten remained unchanged with Richmond at No. 1 followed by Montana, Southern Illinois, Villanova, William & Mary, Elon, Appalachian State, New Hampshire, South Dakota State and South Carolina State.
McNeese State and Northern Iowa occupied spots 11 and 12 in both polls while Eastern Illinois and Holy Cross were listed at No. 13 and No. 14 in both polls. The Panthers were No. 13 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the Sports Network rankings. The Crusaders were No. 13 by Sports Network and No. 14 by the FCS Coaches.
Jacksonville State climbed to No. 15 in the FCS Coaches poll followed by Eastern Washington and Liberty. Stephen F. Austin fell to No. 18 from No. 15 after an upset loss while Central Arkansas plummeted to No. 19 from No. 12 after an upset loss. Colgate climbed to No. 20 in the FCS Coaches poll.
Weber State dropped to No. 21 following a set back against No. 2 ranked Montana. Prairie View jumped up to No. 22 followed by newcomers to the poll Florida A&M and Lafayette at No. 23 and No. 24. Delaware fell to No. 25 after a weekend loss. Cal Poly, Northern Arizona and Massachusetts all fell from the rankings after upset losses.
Both polls included the same schools in the national rankings for only the second time this season. The final 11 schools in the Sports Network rankings appeared in a slightly different order led by Stephen F. Austin at No. 15. The remaining schools were Liberty, Jacksonville State, Colgate, Weber State, Central Arkansas, Eastern Washington, Prairie View A&M, Delaware, Florida A&M and Lafayette.
