CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois athletic director Barbara Burke has announced that all competitions for the weekend have been cancelled in respect for the loss of women's basketball assistant coach Jackie Moore who passed away on Wednesday evening.

“Out of respect for Coach Moore and her family we felt it was the right thing to do to suspend competition for all of our athletic teams this weekend,” Burke said. “Each coach is currently working on possible rescheduling opportunities and those will be announced as they become final.”

Events cancelled for the weekend include volleyball matches set for Friday and Saturday, women's rugby on Saturday, swimming on Saturday, men's soccer on Saturday, women's basketball exhibition on Saturday and men's basketball exhibition on Saturday. The EIU women's soccer team, which is currently in Morehead, Ky., participating in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, will continue to stay at Morehead State and compete.

A memorial service for Jackie Moore is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Lantz Arena. The event is open to the public.
