CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Sunday's Eastern Illinois-Southeast Missouri baseball game has been canceled due to consistent rain showers throughout the afternoon. The finale of the three-game Ohio Valley Conference series will not be made up.
The Panthers (34-10, 12-3 OVC) won both games of Saturday's doubleheader by identical 8-7 scores to post their first series victory in Cape Girardeau since 2003. Eastern has had three conference games canceled due to inclement weather this season.
The Panthers will enter the final two weeks of the regular season in first place with a 12-3 OVC record. The standings are based strictly on winning percentage. Therefore games canceled due to poor weather do not negatively affect a team.
Eastern will have the upcoming week off for final exams before traveling to Clarksville, Tenn. for a three-game conference series at Austin Peay. Saturday's doubleheader is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
