PANTHERS ON THE ROAD EVENTS
Eastern Illinois University's Department of Athletics and Alumni Association are excited to announce that “Panthers on the Road” will visit Effingham Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Rosebud Theatre.
Join fellow country music fans, EIU alumni, university administrators and head coaches for a free country night concert featuring EIU alumnus and Nashville performing artist Jake Maurer (c/o '04) and EIU alumna Jackie Lawson (c/o '05).
Maurer, a former Panther linebacker, served as an assistant football coach at Mattoon High School for three years before heading to Nashville to pursue a career in country music. The singer-songwriter regularly performs at the Music City's famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge.
Lawson and her Hillbilly Rockstars rock out today's country and all-time favorites, performing songs by Sugarland, Leann Rimes, Deana Carter, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, and Patty Loveless.
Representatives from all of EIU's 21 intercollegiate teams will be in attendance along with university President Dr. William Perry and Director of Athletics Barbara Burke.
“We are excited to bring Panthers on the Road to Effingham,” Burke said. “This promises to be a fun evening with top-notch performances by these rising stars from the EIU family.”
