Women's Soccer Rallies To Make OVC Tourney

Following a tough start to the season, Eastern Illinois women’s soccer hit its stride when it mattered most as the Panthers posted three consecutive shutouts in October to advance to their tenth straight Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

The Panthers started their march to the OVC Tourney on October 12 as they picked up a 1-0 shutout over Morehead State. EIU would score six goals over the next four games picking up wins against Tennessee Tech and Southeast Missouri to clinch their spot in the six team tournament field. EIU would also play to a scoreless draw against Austin Peay.

After advancing to the OVC tournament, EIU would fall 2-1 at Morehead State in the OVC Tournament first round.

Chantelle Pressley
Women's Basketball
Chantelle Pressley from women's basketball and Sean Wiggan from men's indoor track have been named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Pressley helped the women's basketball team extend its current winning streak to nine games as she scored in double figures against both Austin Peay and Jacksonville State.  Pressley had a double-double in the win over APSU with 13 points, 10 rebounds.

Wiggan had a solid showing at the Indiana Relays as he placed first in the 600m and was 8th in the 800m invitational.  Wiggan's winning time of 1:19.70 in the 600m set the school record.  His time in the 800m was 1:51.93.
