CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The Eastern Illinois men's golf squad will tee off the fall portion of the schedule on Monday (Sep. 14), competing at a fall tournament being hosted by league foe Morehead State.
The two-day invite begins following a Sunday practice round and will conclude on Tuesday.
Leading the Panthers this season will be sophomore
Gino Parrodi, who finished with the top finish at last spring's Ohio Valley Conference Championship. He is also fresh off participating in the United States Amateur Golf Championship, barely missing the final cut.
Also in the mix will be seniors
Matt Bird and
Lucas Mannix, while junior
Francisco Cherizola and sophomores
Sean Dozier,
Kevin Flack and
David Lawrence will look to make a mark early in the fall season.
Newcomers include
Ryan Frederick,
Tommy Ponce, and
Travis Smyczynski. Smyczynski was a first alternate at the recent U.S. Amateur action over the summer break, but with no withdrawals, was unable to officially compete.
In fall of 2008, the Panthers earned three top 10 finishes, including fifth place at the Butler Invite.

Next up for the Panthers will be a Sept. 25-28 meet in Lemont, Ill., to be hosted by DePaul. Last year, EIU finished in 13th place at the annual Blue Devil fall gathering.
