CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois women's golf continue fall ball this coming weekend, competing at the annual Chicago State Fall Tournament. Last season the Panthers captured first place at the seven-squad event.
The two-day action gets going with a practice round on Sunday (Sep. 20) and officially begins the next Monday and Tuesday at the Lost Marsh course just across the state line in Hammond, Indiana.
"All eight girls are going again this weekend," said head coach
Mike Moncel. "
Veronica Bernier will get back into the top five for scoring, since she had a nice weekend for us last year. So hopefully she can continue to play well.
Katie Imburgia,
Jaymie Voorhees also will be in the top five, while we will be having a qualifying round to place the remaining two scoring spots. The other players will play as individuals."
Moncel said that Lost Marsh is a good course, and many of the girls have played on it before and winning last year is good, too. "Yes we won it last year," he said. "But we are also replacing a good player with some freshmen, so the girls will have to pick it up. Yet I feel good about them. If they play up to their ability they will have a chance."
The Panthers get back to play on Oct. 4-6, playing in the annual Butler Fall Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana.
