BSU Invitational Results (PDF)
MUNCIE, Ind. -- After opening the fall portion of the schedule a week ago, the Eastern Illinois women's tennis squad recently competed at the seven-team Ball State Fall Invitational this past weekend.
The duo of
Cara Huck and
Shannon Brooks teamed up at Flight 1 Doubles, winning the consolation bracket of the meet. After losing to a Butler duo, 8-3, the junior and sophomore rebounded with wins over the host team at 8-3, as well as the opponents from Northern Illinois, 8-2.
Jliana Frey teamed with newcomer
Kristen Laird at Flight 3 Doubles, where they picked up a win over Wright State, but lost to the host team, with both matches ending up with an 8-2 score.
The sophomore twosome of
Amanda Dibbs and
Annie Egan, competing at Flight 2 Doubles, finished with a 0-2 duo mark, losing to by NIU and Wright State opponents, 8-4 and 8-3, respectively.
In singles action,
Cara Huck and
Shannon Brooks each opened up Flight A Singles with victories, before dropping their next matchup. The same fate awaited
Juliana Frey and
Amanda Dibbs at Flight B Singles, while
Annie Egan, playing in Flight C Singles, also won her first match before losing her next contest.
Teams competing in the two-day event included EIU, Bradley, Butler, Wright State, Dayton, Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the host Ball State squad.
The final fall action on the docket for the Panthers is the ITA Midwest Regional, which will run from Oct. 22-27, and will be hosted by Northwestern up in Evanston, Ill.
