EIU Hits The Road Looking For OVC Wins

Panthers play next three OVC games on the road

Eastern Illinois heads back on the road to start a three game swing through Tennessee Tech, Jacksonville State and Southeast Missouri. The Panthers ended a four game OVC slide on Saturday night with a 60-46 win over UT Martin. The win moved EIU back into fifth place in the OVC standings with a 5-5 OVC mark, 11-9 overall. Tennessee Tech swept a pair of home games last week to move into a tie for sixth place in the conference race just a half game behind the Panthers. TTU beat Austin Peay and Tennessee State to even its record at 10-10 overall, 4-5 in the OVC.

EIU-TENNESSEE TECH SERIES
Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech will meet for the 31st time on Thursday with the Golden Eagles holding a 19-11 series advantage. EIU won the earlier meeting between the teams in Charleston with James Hollowell getting a double-double during the 97-93 overtime win. The Panthers are 1-3 in the their last four trips to the Eblen Center under head coach Mike Miller last picking up a win on Dec. 7, 2006 with a 74-69 victory.

SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH
Tennessee Tech continues to feature a high scoring offensive machine as the Golden Eagles are averaging 76.2 points per game with 90 or more points in six games this season. TTU won both of its weekend games they moved back into the middle of the OVC race with a 4-5 conference record. Frank Davis leads the team with 15.1 ppg with Kevin Murphy is just behind at 15 ppg. TTU is shooting 48 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range this season.

PANTHERS PLAYING EXTENDED ROAD STRETCH
Eastern Illinois is headed back on the road to play three OVC games over the next two weekends. In the course of 26 days EIU will have played six of eight games on the road traveling a total of 2,850 miles. The schedule does come back to EIU to end the season as they play five of their last six at Lantz Arena.
