CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois men's and women's indoor track teams will continue the season with its second meet of the spring Saturday as they host the Illinois Intercollegiate Saturday at Lantz Fieldhouse. The meet will begin at 11 a.m.
The Division I schools expected to compete include Illinois and SIU Edwardsville. Lewis and McKendree will also compete in the event.
Both the men's and women's team had impressive weeks last Saturday at the EIU Mega Meet.
In field competitions, Kandace Arnold won two events including the weight throw with a mark of 55' 2.25” and the shot put with a throw of 46'9”. Jamiee Roy won the long jump clearing 17'07”, while Queenie Abeboyejo captured second place in the triple jump with a jump of 39'2”.
On the track side, Chandra Golden won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.81 and Bridget Sanchez finished first in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:40.48. Megan Gingerich won the 1000m run at 3:04.51.
The men's side found a lot of success in track as Marcus Williams finished first in the 600m with a time of 1:21.65. EIU swept the 800m as Sean Wiggan won the event with a time of 1:53.21. Wiggan, Jason Springer, Reid Basting and Darren Patterson won the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:20.53. Mike Connolly won the 1000m with a time of 2:35.32.
