Laser Earns Second Team All-District 19

Junior guard averaged 13.9 points for the season

KANSAS CITY - Eastern Illinois junior guard Tyler Laser has been selected as a second team All-District 19 selection announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches. District 19 encompasses the teams competing in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Laser led the Panthers to a 19-12 record as the junior guard averaged 13.9 points per game which ranked in the top ten in the OVC. He was a first team All-OVC selection marking the first time a Panthers player had earned that distinction since the 2003 season. Laser hit 44 percent from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range and 84 percent from the free throw line for the season.

NABC District 19 first team selections included Ivan Aska and Isaac Miles of Murray State, Kenneth Faried of Morehead State, Wes Channels of Austin Peay and Trenton Marshall of Jacksonville State. Second team selections included Frank Davis of Tennessee Tech, Laser, B.J. Jenkins of Murray State and Eastern Kentucky's Justin Stommes and Josh Taylor.

EIU ended its season with a OVC Tournament semifinal loss to eventual champion Murray State. The Panthers 19 wins tied for the third most in the NCAA Division I history of the program while they ended the regular season on an eight game win streak.
