CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The Eastern Illinois women's golf squad is set to tee up at the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference golf championship, beginning Thursday and finishing up on Saturday. The par 72, 6,049 yard GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn. will play host to the 54-hole championship, with Austin Peay the official host of the year-end event.

The Panthers will go up against conference rivals Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Murray State, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech, with a practice round scheduled for today before the real action gets going on Thursday morning.

Last season, former Panther standout Carrie Riordan captured the individual title, the first for an EIU golfer since joining the league in 1997, as the squad captured fifth place.

Current Eastern golfers looking to improve on their last season results include seniors Katie Imburgia and Jaymie Voorhees, who placed 19th and 24th, respectively. Voorhees has led the current Panther crop of golfers in nearly every meet this spring seasons. Sophomore Kathryn Koester took home a 22nd place finish in 2009 as four players ended up amongst the Top 25 golfers.

Thus far this season, Voorhees leads all golfers with a 79.3 stroke average, followed by Imburgia at 82.3, while junior Veronica Bernier and freshman Emily Calhoun are both currently hitting an average of 83.5. Team-wise, Eastern has placed in the Top 10 seven times, including capturing both the Butler Fall Invitational and recent St. John's Spring Fling.

Live results are available throughout the championship via the Golfstat link above. The Murray State Racers will look to defend their 2009 team championship.
