CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois seniors Katie Imburgia and Jeff Rutherford were both named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District V at-large team on Thursday afternoon. Both student-athletes will now be placed on the national ballot for the chance to earn Academic All-America honors awarded by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Imburgia is a senior golfer from Effingham, Ill., who recently finished her collegiate career with 4.00 GPA in psychology. She was an OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and was named the EIU Senior Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

"Katie has been a delight to coach the past few years," said head golf coach Mike Moncel.  "She joined the squad as a walk-on and worked her butt off to become a solid player for us.  She's a good kid, from a good family, and is a hard worker and an obvious great student.  It has been a real thrill to have her in our Panther golf program."

Rutherford is senior tennis player from Richmond, Ky., who recently finished his collegiate career with a 3.97 GPA in business management. A four-year member of the Panther tennis team Rutherford played the last two seasons at No. 1 singles earned All-Ohio Valley Conference first team honors. He was an OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and named the EIU Senior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

"We're extremely proud of Jeff for receiving this well deserved honor," said head tennis coach John Blackburn.  "He is an incredible example of what a student-athlete should be both on the court and with his academics. He has a bright future ahead of him and I'm glad he'll be staying on at Eastern while in graduate school."
