CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's basketball added another guard to its 2010 recruiting class as head coach Mike Miller has announced the signing of Junior College All-American L.C. Doss to a national letter of intent as the spring national signing period comes to a close.
Doss (6-2, 180) played the last two seasons at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa where he earned second team NJCAA Division II All-American honors this season after leading ECC to the national tournament and a No. 13 national ranking. This season Doss averaged 17.9 points per game knocking down 55 3-pointers as he ranked second in the league in scoring. He was seventh in the ICCAC in assists with two double figure assist games as he averaged 3.5 per game. Doss added 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game as he scored in double figures in 30 of 31 contests.
As a freshman he was a second team All-Region XI selection averaging 13.3 points per game to rank seventh in the league. He was fourth in assists at 4.2 per contest while ranking sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio. Doss finished his NJCAA career scoring 967 points.
“L.C. (Doss) had an excellent year at Ellsworth playing for coach Troy Muilenburg. He provides us with some offensive punch,” said Miller on the Panthers latest signing. “He has the ability to score and the versatility to do it from 3-point range or driving to the paint. He certainly fills a need for our team.”
Doss hails from Omaha, Neb., where he played at Benson High School. He was an All-State selection and was selected to play in the Nebraska-South Dakota All-Star game as a senior.
He becomes the fourth player the Panthers have signed during the spring signing period joining Byron Maxson (Guard/Tyler Junior College), Nick McFarlin (Forward/Black Hawk College) and Alfonzo McKinnie (Forward/Chicago-Marshall HS).
