JACKSON, Tenn. -- With Eastern Kentucky rallying to defeat Murray State in Thursday morning's 3-6 game, Eastern Illinois baseball will take on Jacksonville State at 5:40 p.m. Thursday in the second round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

The EKU-Murray result also assures that EIU will not have to play in a possible 11 a.m. elimination game Friday morning. Eastern Kentucky or one of the top seeds that already receieved a buy would have to play Murray State Friday at 11 a.m.

This marked the third year in a row that the six seed beat the three seed in the opening round.

The probable starting pitchers for the EIU-JSU game are Josh Mueller (Jr, RHP) vs. Austin Lucas (So, RHP). The Gamecocks won two-of-three vs. the Panthers in Jacksonville this season and lead the all-time OVC tourney series 2-1.
