May 1, 1986 – Eastern Illinois pitcher Zam Mogill was one of the dominant figures in Panther softball history as she helped EIU win three straight Gateway Conference regular-season championships while serving as the team's ace from 1985-88.

Mogill set the school record for single season strike outs in 1986 with 249 K's. To date Mogill is the lone player in EIU history to have recorded 200 or more strike outs in a season. She holds the career strike out record with 701. Her career ERA was 0.75 including an incredible 0.44 ERA in 1986.

Mogill was named a second team All-Region selection in 1986 finishing with 24 wins as EIU was 30-15 overall. A three-time first-team All-Gateway Conference selection Mogill was inducted into the EIU Hall of Fame in 2003. In May 2007 Mogill was selected as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference All-Centennial Team.
