EUGENE, Ore. - Eastern Illinois senior Kandace Arnold has already made history this year for the Panthers track and field program becoming the first female athlete to advance to NCAA National Championships.  On Friday evening she will attempt to become the Panthers first NCAA Division I female All-American when she competes in the shot put.

Arnold placed 8th in the shot put at the NCAA West Regional in Austin, Texas two weeks ago.  She was able to land in the top eight on her last throw which measured 52'6.75" and extended her school record distance.  This week she enters the competition ranked 16th in the field of 24.

Already this season Arnold has collected several honors as the Evergreen Park, Ill., product has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Athlete of the Year and the EIU Senior Female Athlete of the Year.  A chance at All-American honors would be icing on the cake for her stand out career.  Arnold will be the lone athlete (male or female) representing the OVC at the NCAA Nationals this week.
