Under second year head coach Matt Bos the Eastern Illinois men's and women's swim teams both smashed a number of school relay and individual records as they competed as the Summit League Championships held in Indianapolis.
The men led by a pair of freshmen Ken Tiltges and John Wilson set six school records with two relay marks and four individual marks. Tiltges was named the Summit League Newcomer of the Championship as he won the 200 IM and swam the opening leg of the 200 freestyle relay. Wilson was on a pair of relay championship record teams in the 200 free and 200 medley relay. Tiltges record in the 200 IM was 1:52.94 while the 200 free relay mark was 1:23.03 and the 200 medley relay mark was 1:32.30.
Other men's individual records set in the pool were Matt O'Hagan in the 100 breaststroke at 57.37, Nathan Moritz in the 200 butterfly at 1:53.80 and Rich Waszak in the 200 backstroke at 1:51.09.
On the women's side the Panthers established nine records with three relay marks and six individual records. Lauren Zillmer was a factor in four of those marks setting the individual record in the 100 free at 52.71 while also participating in the 400 medley (3:55.48), 200 medley (1:47.60) and 800 freestyle relay (7:48.30).
Megan Eshelman picked up two individual marks while also swimming a leg of the 800 freestyle relay. Eshelman set the 1000 freestyle mark at 10:35.43 while matching the 1650 freestyle record with a time of 17:35.50.
Other women's individual records were set by Tyler Crittenden, Kellie Logterman and Laura Nilsen. Crittenden set the school mark in the 100 backstroke at 58.03 while also swimming the opening leg on the 200 medley relay. Logterman set the 100 butterfly mark at 57.94 while also swimming a leg on the 400 medley and 200 medley relay squads. Nilsen set the 200 backstroke mark at 2:05.04 while adding a leg on the 400 medley and 800 freestyle relay teams.
