Sept. 11, 1994 – In one of the most thrilling victories of an undefeated season at Lakeside Field, three EIU men's soccer players surround the ball in a wild 5-4 win at Lakeside Field against cross-state rival Western Illinois.

(Left to Right) Josh Cournaya (Batavia), Robert Tomic (Hamilton, Ontario) and Steve Van Dyke (Collinsville) helped the Panthers gain possession and eventually led their team to the Mid-Continent Conference win.

Tomic, who served as team captain in 1994, scored that day, his first of six goals during his senior season. Van Dyke tallied an assist in the victory, recording a point in each of the first five games that season.

The Panthers finished the 1994 season with a 12-3-1 record, highlighted by a 7-0 mark at Lakeside Field. Eastern won the West Division of the Mid-Continent Conference with a 6-1-1 record that season, its fifth title as a Mid-Con member from 1983-95. EIU men's soccer will be returning to the conference, now known as The Summit League, for the fall of 2011.
