NEW ORLEANS – Eastern Illinois women's track and field team was recently recognized as an All-Academic team as selected by the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association. The award recognizes teams that post a 3.00 or higher GPA during the most recent academic year. EIU finished the 2009-10 year with a combined 3.31 GPA.

Tennessee was named the Academic Team of the Indoor Championship season while Penn State claimed that honor for the Outdoor Championship season. This marks the fourth year that the USTFCCCA has awarded a track and field Academic team of the year.

EIU recently had three female athletes – Megan Gingerich, Erin O'Grady and Jaimee Roy earn All-Academic recognition by the USTFCCCA for posting a 3.25 or higher GPA while competing in the NCAA Regional.

The Panthers posted the second highest team GPA in the Ohio Valley Conference as they swept both the indoor and outdoor team championships. EIU had the fourth highest GPA among schools in Illinois, but the highest among public universities.
