CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois baseball assisted with its annual Habitat for Humanity project Saturday, Aug. 28, performing a number of duties on a house on Fourth Street on the north side of Charleston.
The Panthers helped paint the interior of the home, caulked edges in the basement and foundation, installed doors, put an extension on the main water line, spread piles of top soil across the yard and removed tree limbs and other debris.
Eastern baseball has annually assisted in a local Habitat for Humanity project each fall. The Panthers have assisted with home remodeling and refurbishing projects in Charleston and Mattoon and also traveled to Monticello for a wood chopping and splitting project in 2009.
Eastern's fall season is highlighted by the annual team world series. Dates and teams for the Fall World Series will be announced at a later date. The Panthers are expected to open their 2011 spring season the weekend of Feb. 18-20 with a three-game series at Southern Miss.
