CHARLESTON, Ill. – New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton will be back on the Eastern Illinois campus this Saturday as the Panthers will retire Payton's No. 18 jersey during halftime of their home opener against Central Arkansas. Payton played quarterback for the Panthers from 1983-86 setting several school single season and career records including 10,655 yards passing. Payton was an honorable mention All-American in 1986 leading EIU to the NCAA FCS quarterfinals. The Saints will open the season on Thursday night hosting Minnesota in a rematch of last year's NFC Championship game.
