EIU Track Hosts Mega Meet

CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois hosted the Mega Meet on Saturday at Lantz Fieldhouse with the meet also used to retire a jersey in honor of former EIU and Olympic triple jumper John Craft.

First place winners for the women included Emily Quinones in the 200-Meter Dash (26.19) and Megan Gingerich in 600-Meter Run (1:34.96). While in long distance events, Erika Ramos finished first in the Mile (5:09.96), as did and Olivia Klaus in the 3000-Meter Run (10:26.75).

The foursome of Quinones, Klaudia Susul, Bridget Sanchez, and Gingerich captured first in the 4x400-Meter Relay with a time of 4:07.14.

Field event winners were Abigail Schmitz in the Pole Vault (12-00.75), Jaimee Roy in the Long Jump (17-11.50), and LaDonna Martin in the Triple Jump (33-10).

The men were led by Zye Boey's 60-Meter Dash (6.76) victory, while William Roth won the 3000-Meter Run (8:47.33).

The Panther guys captured all three relay races, as Darren Patterson, Cody Boarman, Pat Tortorici, and Preston Smith teamed up to win the 4x400-Meter Relay (3:20.42).

The 4x800-Meter Relay winning squad (7:56.90) consisted of Ryan Ballard, Reid Basting, Chad Aubin, and Wes Sheldon. Ballard, Sheldon and Aubin joined Matt Feldhake to capture the Distance Medley Relay as well (10-36.60).

Mick Viken picked up the lone field honor for the men, winning the Pole Vault (17-00).
