CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Swimming World Magazine recently completed an online interview with Eastern Illinois head swimming coach Elliott McGill, with the feature to be made available starting Thursday morning (November 3) at
www.SwimmingWorldMagazine.com.
This past Tuesday afternoon,
Morning Swim Show host Peter Busch recorded a quick online interview with the first year Panther skipper via Skype, marking the first time that the EIU Panther swimming program has been featured on the long-time swimming site.
Swimming World covers the entire swimming community, with many coaches, athletes and professionals all involved with the site. Annual items covered include a variety of stories, interviews, and coaching tips, which feature a large selection of videos.
“It was a very fun interview to do,” said coach McGill. “We are honored that Swimming World was interested in doing the feature as we kind of have a rather unique situation here at EIU.”
As discussed in the interview, not only is McGill currently the youngest NCAA Division I head swimming coach in the nation, but he also finds himself in a rare position of coaching his younger brother, Colin, a junior freestylist on the Panther men's squad.
McGill earned his Bachelor of Science degree from EIU in 2009 and is currently completing a master's in sports administration. He comes from an active swimming family that includes another brother, Tyler, who is a professional swimmer on the USA National Men's Team following a standout collegiate career at Auburn.
