EIU Women’s Soccer Announces 2011 Class

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois head women's soccer coach Summer Perala has announced the addition of eight players to her 2011 recruiting class.

The class consists of five players from the state of Illinois in Allie Lakie (Lockport Township HS/Homer Glen, Ill.), Lauren Momberger (Hononegah HS/Rockton, Ill.), Meagan Radloff (West Chicago Community HS/West Chicago, Ill.), Lauren Rusk (Downers Grove South HS/Woodridge, Ill.) and Brooke Sill (Lake Zurich HS/Lake Zurich, Ill.).

The remaining three players represent three different states as Madison Carter (Anderson County HS/Lawrenceburg, Ky.) hails from Kentucky, Kelsie Friend (Walled Lake Northern HS/Commerce, Mich.) hails from Michigan and Jade Schwarting (Carmel HS/Carmel, Ind.) hails from Indiana.

“I'm extremely excited with the talent our 2011 class brings to the table,” said Perala. “These young women have such a solid understanding of the game and all have experience at playing a variety of different positions, which will help improve our depth as a team. Athletically, I fully expect them to be significant contributors in a very short time. This 2011 class, combined with our strong core of returners, will help to bring the program a step closer to our ultimate goal of winning an OVC Championship.”

High School/Club Accolades – Was selected to the all-district team from 2008-09 in addition to be named to the all-region team from 2008-10… assisted in helping Anderson County High School to a regional championship in 2010… named to the all-regional tournament team from 2009-10… selected to the all-conference first team in 2009… named to the all-state honorable mention team in 2008, 2009 and 2010… was on the Kentucky Olympic Development Program from 2007-10… finished her career ranked third in career scoring and fifth in career assists at Anderson County HS… selected to the academic all-conference honorable mention team from 2008-10… also participates in basketball and track… holds the school record in the 400-meter dash... coached by Jason Earnest.

“Madison is a very quick and explosive attacker. She does exceptionally well in using her speed to separate herself from defenders. She not only creates great scoring chances for herself, but has shown to be a proven finisher. She'll be an exciting player to watch and I expect her to contribute quickly on the field.”

“Lauren's an athletic and creative player in the middle and up top. She's outstanding in tight space as far as playing composed and keeping possession. She also has a great shot around the goal and her ability to consistently play quality services into the box will provide more scoring opportunities to our other attackers.”

“Lauren is the complete player as far as her size, strength and abilities on the ball. Up top, she's a dangerous factor anywhere around the goal. She looks to shoot quickly and has a lethal strike. She's also dominant in the air and will be a target on corners and services into the box. Defensively, she's hard-nosed and good in her individual defending. Lauren will be able to contribute quickly because of her understanding of the different roles/positions on the field.”

She's effective anywhere across the front line because of her skills with the ball at her feet, as well as her dynamic movement off the ball. Jade reads the game well and finds seams to get through to find the net. I'm very excited to see how she combines with the core of attacking players this fall!”

With her speed and outstanding fitness, she can cover box to box and has the ability to send in some dangerous crosses. She also has a wonderful touch on the ball and that allows her to be confident in taking players on, so she also does well when cutting to the goal. Her work-rate and competitive personality is top-notch, and I see her being able to contribute in a short time with the team this fall.”
