CHARLESTON, Ill. – Former EIU women's basketball player Kelly (Powell) Richter was one of 18 former Indiana HS basketball players recently selected to the Indiana HS Hall of Fame's Silver Anniversary Team.
The former Panther played for EIU from 1987-91, suiting up in 84 career games. She was also a member of the 1987-88 Panther squad that captured the Gateway Conference Tournament Title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Below is a list of accomplishments compiled by the Indiana HS Hall of Fame.
Kelly (Powell) Richter, Silver Creek HS
1987 Indiana All-Star; scored 1,587 career points, graduated #1 in school history, now #2; was four-time team MVP and set 19 school records; averaged 23.1 points, 10.9 rebounds, 57% FG and 71% FT her senior season; averaged 25.0 points and 11 rebounds as a junior; teams won sectional titles her junior and senior seasons; attended Eastern Illinois University to play basketball; was on the Dean's List and graduated Summa Cum Laude; attended IU School of Medicine, was team physician for Vanderbilt University 2001-2002, currently Cleveland Clinic staff physician and team physician of Baldwin Wallace College from 2003-current; married and has three children while living in Strongsville, Ohio.
