DAVIDSON, N.C. – Eastern Illinois senior wide receiver
Chris Wright has been named to the College Football Performance awards preseason wide receiver watch list. EIU will open the 2012 season on August 30 hosting Southern Illinois at 6:30 p.m. at O'Brien Field.
Wright was the Panthers top receiver last season as he led EIU in scoring with 11 touchdowns, tops among Ohio Valley Conference wide receivers. He hauled in 42 passes for 735 yards as he moved up to sixth on the EIU career touchdown reception list with 21. Wright had a pair of 100-plus yard receiving days with 120 at Southern Illinois and 130 at Murray State. His 11 touchdowns rank fifth on the EIU single season list. He finished the year ranked third in the OVC in receiving yards per game which was 46th in the NCAA.
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
