DAVIDSON, N.C. – A pair of Eastern Illinois tight ends have been named to the College Football Performance awards preseason tight end watch list.    Senior Von Wise and sophomore Sam Hendricks were both placed on the preseason watch list.  EIU will open the 2012 season on August 30 hosting Southern Illinois at 6:30 p.m. at O'Brien Field.

Wise was a second team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection at tight end last season.  He was third on the team in receptions hauling in 32 passes with a 10.9 yards per catch average.  He had touchdown receptions at Jacksonville State and against UT Martin.  Wise had a season high five receptions at Murray State.  He finished the year with 348 yards receiving.

Hendricks played in all eleven games last season for EIU as a redshirt freshman.  He had 17 receptions for 194 yards averaging 11.4 yards per catch.  Hendricks caught his first career touchdown in the season opening win over Illinois State finishing the year with three touchdown grabs.  He had a season high five receptions against UT Martin.

The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
