NEW ORLEANS – Eastern Illinois track and field teams were named to the list of USTFCCCA All-Academic teams covering the 2011-12 academic year.  The EIU women posted a 3.26 team GPA for the school year while the EIU men posted a 3.08 team GPA.

To be recognized as an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA, a school's track and field program most have a cumulative 3.00 GPA or better.  A total of 171 women's programs and 85 men's programs earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition. 

Arkansas was named the USTFCCCA Scholar Team of the Year for women's indoor track with Stanford earning that honor for the outdoor season.  Florida swept the indoor and outdoor Scholar Team of the Year award for on the men's side.

Earlier in the week the USTFCCCA listed its men's and women's All-Academic performers with EIU placing seventh athletes on those teams.  On the men's side Stefan Gorol, Graham Morris and Mick Viken were honored.  On the women's side Megan Gingerich, Jade Riebold, Abigail Schmitz and Britney Whitehead were honored.
