CHARLESTON, Ill. – Start times for all 11 games for the 2012 Eastern Illinois football season have now been set as the Panthers prepare to embark on a NEW ERA under head coach Dino Babers. This year's schedule includes five home games with the first two home contests under the lights.
EIU kicks off the season on Thursday, August 30 against in-state rival Southern Illinois. Kick time for that contest is at 6:30 p.m. The Panthers then travel to Western Michigan for a 6 p.m. kick on Sept. 8. The 101st playing of the Mid-America Classic against Illinois State will be a 1 p.m. start on Sept. 15 in Normal.
The Panthers then return home for what may be the fastest game of the season as two high octane offenses meet on Sept. 22 when Murray State visits for a 6:30 p.m. game. EIU's annual Family Weekend contest is on Sept. 29 against Austin Peay with a 1:30 p.m. start.
EIU travels to Martin, Tenn., to face UT Martin for a 2 p.m. game on Oct. 6. The Panthers host Jacksonville State on Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. for the Panthers homecoming contest.
EIU ends the season with four games facing three teams who made the FCS Playoffs last year in road contests. EIU visits Eastern Kentucky on Oct. 27 for a Noon kick. The Panthers then travel to Tennessee Tech on Nov. 3 for a 1:30 p.m. kick. Senior Day and EIU Hall of Fame Day is set for Nov. 10 when the Panthers host Southeast Missouri at 1:30 p.m. The regular season finale is a non-conference 3 p.m. game at Central Arkansas on Nov. 17.
All five home games will be televised on WEIU TV. All games will air over the radio on the Panther Football Radio Network which includes stations WEIU 88.9 FM – Charleston, WRJM 1270 AM – Charleston, WMKR 94.3 FM – Taylorville and WHOW 1520 AM – Clinton. Also this season all Ohio Valley Conference home and away football games will be available for free online on the new OVC All-Access web streaming service.
