BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Mariah King was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Player of the Week following her performances on the court last week. King helped the Panther women's basketball team post a 2-0 record last week and remain in first place of the conference's west division.
The Chicago native averaged 21 points per game with a .636 field-goal percentage (14-for-22). King also added nine rebounds per game while going 13-for-15 from the charity stripe.
King added her third double-double of the season on Monday, Jan. 28 versus UT Martin with a team-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. She scored 19 of her 23 points versus the Skyhawks in the second half, going 5-for-6 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the line. King hit three of her four free throw attempts in the final 14 seconds against UT Martin to seal the win.
Against Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Jan. 26, the senior forward scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds in 27 minutes of action.
The two-time all-conference selection has been named player of the week three times in her career. King becomes the first Panther to win the weekly award this season.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 2 at SIU Edwardsville at 4 p.m.
