CHARLESTON, Ill. -- With projected cold and wet weather in the forecast, the Eastern Illinois softball and men's & women's tennis squads have altered their respective upcoming Ohio Valley Conference spring schedules.

The Panther tennis road dual at SIU Edwardsville, originally scheduled for Thursday (March 21), has been postponed as temps in the Edwardsville area are expected to only reach the upper 30s.  A possible make-up date is currently in the works and will be announced when finalized.

The Eastern softball squad, meanwhile, have also made a change in their weekend road trip to Morehead State.

Originally scheduled for Sunday (March 24), the Panthers and Eagles have agreed to move the OVC twin bill to Friday (March 22).  First pitch is now set for a noon start at MSU's University Field.

Projected Sunday weather shows a 70% chance of rain in the Morehead, Ky. area, while a much better weather scenario of partly sunny skies and temps in the upper 40s are in the mix for Friday.

The Panthers are still set to travel to Eastern Kentucky for a noon doubleheader on Saturday (March 23).

Also, a change of venue for this weekend's OVC home openers for Panther men's and women's tennis against Murray State and Austin Peay may also occur, depending on how the weather outlook evolves in the next couple of days.

The weekend outlook for the East Central Illinois area calls for highs in the upper 40s, 10% rain and gusty winds for Saturday, while there's a 70% chance for a mix of rain/snow, and high temps of only 40-degrees on tap for Sunday.

EIU does have the option to move either, or both, weekend tennis events into the nearby Wabash Tennis Center in Terre Haute, Ind.  Change of venue and/or match time announcements will be made when necessary and finalized.
