INDIANAPOLIS – David Goldsmith scored two goals and had an assist to lead the Butler men's soccer team over Eastern Illinois, 4-0, on Tuesday night at the Butler Bowl in an exhibition match.

The Bulldogs scored three goals, two from Goldsmith, in the first 13 minutes of the match to build an early lead. Jordan Burt gave the Bulldogs a 4-0 advantage in the 39^th minute on a pass from Goldsmith.

Butler took 18 more shots (22-4) than EIU and took six more corner kicks (8-2). The Panthers committed five more fouls (13-8) than the Bulldogs on the night.

Four different Panthers took a shot in the match with Jake Plant and Will Teichman each posting a shot on goal. Austin Miller made seven saves between the pipes for EIU, playing the entire match.

Burt led Butler with five shots (two on goal) while Chad Rigg added four shots (one on goal). Jon Dawson and Andy Holte split time in goal for the Bulldogs with Holte making two saves in the second half.

The Panthers conclude their preseason schedule on Saturday, Aug. 24 when they play host to Dayton at 5 p.m.
