CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois scored with five minutes left in regulation to force overtime on a rain soaked, muddy field on Tuesday afternoon only to have visiting SIU Edwardsville knock home the golden goal under a minute into the second overtime.  SIUE came away with a 4-3 victory.

The Panthers fell to 3-12-1 on the year.   They will play at Oral Roberts on Saturday night to close out the regular season.   A win over ORU would allow EIU to have a chance at a bid to the Summit League Tournament based on several tiebreaker scenarios.

SIUE improved to 5-7-4.

Sean Baumann won the match for SIUE as he knocked home a deflection 53 seconds into the second overtime period.  Paul Scheipeter fired a ball into the goal box that was saved with the deflection landing at Baumann's feet as he sent it back in for the winner.

Victor Krogmann tied the match at 3-3 as he had a one touch on a ball right in front of the goal with 5:21 left to play in regulation.   The ball was sent into the box by Will Butler and Zach Medawattage.

Jake Brillhart scored the opening goal of the match for EIU in the 15th minute.   Dominic Recca and Butler were credited on the assist.

SIUE tied the game in the 22nd minute on a goal by Brett Lane, his first of the match.  Christian Volesky had the assist as Lane scored on a header.   Lane's second goal was a header he flicked in off a corner kick in the 58th minute which tied the match at 2-2.  Justin Bilyeu served the corner kick ball into the box.

The Panthers had taken a 2-1 lead into the half with Justin Oliver scoring in the 39th minute.  Oliver broke free just over midfield as Brillhart hit him with a pass.  Oliver beat the goalkeeper one on one for the goal.
