INDIANAPOLIS -- Day three of the 2015 Summit League Championship saw the Eastern Illinois men's and women's swimming squads continue to set new marks and secure additional names to the Panther record books on Friday (Feb. 20).

Friday Panther highlight included newcomer Amy Smith improving on her previous EIU Top 10 mark in the 100-Back as she set a new school record in the prelims off a 56.86 final, advancing to the A Finals in the process where she placed 7th overall.  Earlier this season Smith had previously set a new #8 mark in that event.

For the guys, fellow freshman Steve Fishman also made a Top 10 improvement in the 200-Free as he jumped from #9 in the EIU ranks up to #3 with a 1:41.17 mark in the B Finals.

Brogan O'Doherty and Carolyn Belford, meanwhile, each moved to #4 in the career list following respective 50.77 and 4:40.23 marks in their 100-Back and 400-IM events.

Meanwhile, Danielle DiMatteo (100-Fly/59.54), Joann Wakefield (100-Breast/1:07.57), Brandon Robbins (100-Breast/58.31), and Kelsey Ferguson (400-IM/4:41.07) all etched their name into the Panther record book in their respective events with new #5 marks.

Matt Jacobs and Melissa Hepler then proceeded to own new #6 and #7 marks following their 100-Breast (58.57) and 200-Free (1:56.20) events as each advanced to the B Finals.

Lastly, Stephen Truchon and Niki Beringer have each secured #9 and #10 placements in the EIU Top 10 in the 100-Fly (51.59) and 100-Back (1:00.27).

Another highlight of the day was the inclusion of 26 additional season-best marks by various Panther performers.

In team scoring, Denver continues to pull away from the competition on both sides with the guys now owning 729 points and the women with 673.  The Panther men still hold a sixth place mark while the EIU ladies are in seventh overall.

The Panthers will complete the 2014-15 season on Saturday as the league championships finishes up with prelims and finals in the 1650-Free, 200-Back, 100-Free, 200-Breast, 200-Fly, and 400-Free Relay.
