Biography

2008: Jeske pitched in 21 games… three of his best outings of the season on big stages: vs. Illinois in Mattoon, against nationally-ranked Missouri in Metro St. Louis and vs. Oral Roberts at the NCAA Regional… worked two innings of scoreless relief to close out the Illinois win… kept EIU in the game against Mizzou with a career-high 4 1/3 innings of one-run relief… was the most effective Panther pitcher against ORU, working 3 1/3 innings of one-run relief… pitched in both Regional games… tossed 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in the midweek win against Monmouth College… escaped a bases-loaded jam in the series opener at Eastern Kentucky en route to an inning and a third of hitless relief.

2007: Jeske pitched in 14 games in relief… gave up just two extra-base hits (both doubles) and was charged with only one wild pitch in 15 innings… opposing batters were just 4-for-26 against him with the bases loaded… recorded 24 groundouts to just seven flyouts… one of just three pitchers that were active the entire season to not give up a home run… surrendered just one hit in seven innings at home… struck out three in two innings of hitless relief against Millikin… surrendered just one hit in an inning and two-thirds his next time out against Samford… worked a season-high 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in the home finale versus Eastern Kentucky… one of just three EIU relief pitchers to not allow a run in the slugfest series at Morehead State.

2006: Jeske pitched in 13 games… did not allow a run in his first four appearances as a collegiate pitcher… earned a save in the spring break trip win over IPFW after inducing the only batter he faced to ground into a game-ending double play with the bases loaded… earned victories in consecutive appearances against Olivet Nazarene and Murray State... pitched an inning-and-a-third of hitless relief against Northern Iowa… tossed a season-high 2 2/3 innings in midweek win over Aurora University.

2005: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL: Ross earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors for coach Mark Jackley at Mattoon High School, which was the 2003 Big 12 champ... team captain and Cy Young award winner on the squad for most outstanding pitcher... he lettered three times in football and once in basketball... pitched for the 2003 American Legion State Championship team that advanced to the Great Lakes Regional final... MHS reached the Class 5A playoff semifinals... National Honor Society... Big 12 Scholar-Athlete award.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was "throwing a perfect game in the first game of the American Legion district tournament in 2004"... his parents have been a major influence on his sports career because "they made sure I stuck it out through the lows and remained humble through the highs"... admires prep football coach Gerald Temples because "he pushed me to develop into the athlete I am today"... son of Patrick Jeske and Cathy & Rodney Morris... MAJOR: Secondary Education.
