Biography
EIU: Derek competed in five cross country meets in 2007 with a top finish of 17th at the EIU Panther Open... top time was 25:58.95 posted at the Memphis Twilight... qualified for the USA Junior National Track and Field Championships in summer of 2008 in 3,000 meter steeplechase but did not compete due to injury... ran indoor and outdoor track in 2008... competed in 1,000m and 3,000m during indoor season... ran 1,500m and steeplechase at OVC Outdoor championships scoring points in both events including third place finish in steeplechase.
High School: Ericson was an all state cross country runner in 2006, placing 18th at the IHSA state cross country finals... was a state qualifier in the 4x800 relay in 2006, and the mile run in 2007... competed in Cross country for coach Bill Eschman.
Personal: Plans to major in Business Management….son of Larry and Michelle Ericson…No.1 sports highlight was being all state in cross country his senior year.
