The Eastern Illinois University Athletic Media Relations staff handles the publicity for the school’s 21 intercollegiate sports, disseminating information on all Panther sport squads, the coaching staff and the student-athletes, as well as members of the EIU Department of Athletics.

 

The office produces literature about the teams, maintains the official website and coordinates interview requests for players, coaches and staff. The office also maintains historical records on each sport at Eastern Illinois as well as data on many former athletes and EIU athletics in general.

Sports/Media Guides

Media/Sports Guides are produced for all of EIU’s 21 intercollegiate sports.  Four guides are printed and available for purchase (football, volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball).  All other guides are avialable for free download online.  The general public may purchase media guides through the Sports Information Office by contacting (217) 581-6408.  All guides are individually priced based on sport. 

 

The Internet

Information on Eastern Illinois athletics can be found on the internet by visiting the official EIU Athletics Website at www.EIUpanthers.com.  Information on the Ohio Valley Conference and its members can be accessed at www.ovcsports.com.

 

Media Access

Most of Eastern Illinois athletic facilities now contain wireless access for use by visiting team’s and media members.  Phone lines and fax services will also be provided at most EIU athletic events. Please call the EIU Sports Information office if you have questions.

 

Interviews & Player/Coach Access

Interviews with Eastern Illinois players and coaches can be obtained following each EIU home event.  NCAA rules permit players and coaches a minimum of a 10-minute cooling off period prior to the interview period. A sports information staff member can direct you to interview area at each athletic venue.

 

For non-game day interviews with a coach or player, please contact the sports information contact for that sport for more information.  For information on weekly football and basketball press conferences please contact the EIU sports information director.

 

Credentials

Credentials for working press and photographers can be obtained through the Eastern Illinois sports information director. All requests must be made in writing (via fax or email) at least one week in advance of the contest.  Season long passes will be issued to select media at the beginning of that sports season.  Please make requests for parking passes at the same time as you make press/photo credential requests.

 

PMS Colors and Logos

Eastern Illinois athletic logos can be requested through any member of the sports information office. Our PMS Colors for any EIU logo are PMS 2945 Blue, PMS 422 Gray and White.

Chantelle Pressley
Women's Basketball
Chantelle Pressley from women's basketball and Sean Wiggan from men's indoor track have been named the EIU student-athletes of the week.

Pressley helped the women's basketball team extend its current winning streak to nine games as she scored in double figures against both Austin Peay and Jacksonville State.  Pressley had a double-double in the win over APSU with 13 points, 10 rebounds.

Wiggan had a solid showing at the Indiana Relays as he placed first in the 600m and was 8th in the 800m invitational.  Wiggan's winning time of 1:19.70 in the 600m set the school record.  His time in the 800m was 1:51.93.
