Eastern Illinois Academic All-Americans

Eastern Illinois University athletics has a long rich tradition of success both on the playing field and in the classroom.  Listed below are EIU student-athletes who have been selected as Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  Since 1980 EIU has had 35 student-athletes earn Academic All-America honors.

The current Academic All-America team consists of a first, second and third team.  Those athletes are selected from athletes who were selected to their Academic District first team (there are eight Academic Districts - EIU is in District V).  To be eligible, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.3 cumulative GPA (previously 3.2) and be at a starter or key reserve.  Athletes must be a sophomore in academic standing at their school - first year students and first year transfers are not eligible.  Candidates are then voted on by CoSIDA members in their academic district to comprise the Academic All-District teams.

Please note that several sports coaches associations also select Academic All-America teams, but only CoSIDA's is considered the official Academic All-American team.  Sport specific coaches teams are not listed on this page.
