Eastern Illinois cross country will head to the Ohio Valley Conference Championships this Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.  The women's 5K race will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 10 a.m. at Percy Warner State Park.
 
Last season both the EIU men and women placed second at the OVC Championships.  The Panthers return two All-OVC runners from last season on both teams.  The EIU men will be led by seniors Riley McInerney and Paxson Menard.   The Panther women will be led by junior Maria Baldwin and senior Ivy Handley.
 
The EIU men have won seven previous OVC titles with the last coming in 2005.  The EIU women have won two OVC Championships with the last in 2011.  Jeff Jonaitis is the last EIU men's runner to win the individual OVC title in 2003.  The EIU women have never had a first place finisher at the OVC Championships.
 
The EIU men are scheduled to have the following runners compete at the 2016 OVC Championships – Riley McInerney, Paxson Menard, Tyler Yunk, Juan Barajas, Chris Orlow, Greg Rogers, Marcus Skinner and Robby Prescott.
 
The EIU women are scheduled to have the following runners compete at the 2016 OVC Championships – Ruth Garippo, Maria Baldwin, Ivy Handley, Rachel Garippo, Julie James, Sadie Elliott, Jocelyne Mendoza and Emily Brelsfoard.
